The wheel bearings on a trailer are frequently overlooked because they are out of sight. The most typical reason for grabbing brakes is a loose, worn, or broken wheel bearing. You should inspect your bearings regularly to ensure proper trailer wheel bearing maintenance. Jack up the trailer and secure it with jack stands of sufficient capacity. Hook your tape measure to the outside art of the hub, which is the part of the hub that faces the wheel, to get the hub face measurement. On the opposite side of the axle, measure to the same location. Make sure you’re measuring the outside of the hub, not the inside. One of the reasons your trailer wheels wobble and become unstable is a bent axle spindle. Our 1 1/4 X 7, 1 1/16 Bearing is available in sizes. Dexter Axle’s SURFACE (33-80060) is now available for purchase.
